I would love a list of your fave restaurants & eateries that are in the 9th Ward. Any good mom & pop places that I'm missing out on?

The Joint: always smokin', amazing bbq...

Sugar Park: awsome pizza, great blue cheese burger...

Elizabeth's: great food from 'round here...

    Bywater BBQ, great Sunday brunch...

Bacchanal Wine and Spirits: excellent wine, beer, and cheese selection...

Mimi's in the Marigny: (on the border, but supported by the Bywater more than the Marigny), damn fine tapas...

there are a few more, we do pretty well on self-sufficiency...

I heard Elizabeth's is relocating, to where I know not. Heard anything?

Haven't tried the Joint, yet, mostly because there's not much of a vegetarian selection...but have been told I must get some of their mac and cheese.

Love all the other places you mentioned. I've lost count of how many pizzas I've had at Sugar Park...excellent stuff. Highly recommend the Zephyr and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Jack Dempsey's is cool. The portions are nice. Haven't been there in a while, though...too fattening.

Wow, Jack Dempsey's. I used to go there often as a kid. That was our "fancy clothes" dinner place, despite the fact that it wasn't very fancy. I do recall it being pricey, though.

I started a conquest to find the best bbq in town, but it's been put on hold. I've passed The Joint sooo many times, I think that will be my next stop.

So, since I initially posted this, here's where we stand:

Good fried shrimp po-boys at Captain Sal's (yes, Captain Sal's).
AWESOME bbq at The Joint. What's the schedule for this place, though? I also heard that they are opening a location UPTOWN!
I still need to get a cup of gumbo from Jack Dempsey's.
Elizabeth's - Unimpressed our first visit, tasty brunch for my second visit, and WOW! the fried chicken is EXCELLENT on our third visit.
